Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh(USA)
Opened country office in Dhaka
Dhaka Office Inaugural Ceremony of Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh held in Uttara, Dhaka on 2nd January, 2009. Professor M.A Bari, Country Director of Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh presided over the program. Mr. Syed Hasan, Advisor of Hope Foundation for Women and Children of Bangladesh USA was present as chief guest and opened the new office.
Principal (Ret.) Hafizur Rhaman, Mr. Mozammel Hossain Haolader (Sentu), Mr. M.N.A Katebi, Chief Conservative of Forest Department (Retd.), Mr. Akter Hossain, UP Chairman of Shilkop Union of Banskhali took part as special guest on the occasion.
About 30 honorable guests including doctors, journalist and NGO personnel were present on the occasion and welcomed the initiatives of Hope Foundation. All those present encouraged the expansion of Hope Foundation’s work in providing healthcare to the poor and needy, and urged the Foundation to aim for future success.
The program started with reciting from the Holy Quran. Mr. MA Bari in his welcoming speech greeted the guests and informed the participants about the background of Hope Foundation and its’ present activities. He said that Hope Foundation services to the poor women and children in Cox’s Bazar started in 1999. Cox’s Bazar Hospital for Women and Children became a hospital in 2005, from it health services are being provided to the poorest people in the community from the remote area of the district. Hope Foundation now has also formed 6 clinics at community level which are at most remote area where government services are almost absent.
Mr. Bari also requested everybody to visit the projects and cooperate with the organization so that it can spread out the health services to the poor people.
Mr. Katebi, in his speech, declared that Hope Foundation is serving many people who have never received health services from professional doctors in their lifetime. He said that Hope Foundation is doing a great job in the most vulnerable area of the country. During his speech he was very emotional and gave thanks to everyone for this novel initiative. Mr. Katebi also requested every body to come forward to serve humanity.
Mr. Mozammel Hossain Sentu said that it is an opportunity for the social workers of the community to come forward and mentioned that the philanthropic efforts like Hope Foundation can be used to encourage others to serve the poor also. He also said that in, Hope has initiated to start a clinic which is due to open and will soon provide health service to the poor
Jamal Uddin of Manobadhikar Sagbadik Forum appreciated Hope Foundation’s work and committed to in-corporate it in a health rights forum and will assist in disseminating its information at the national level.
Chief guest Mr. Hasan said, “All thanks goes to Dr. Mahmud, he has taken this novel initiative and some of Bangladeshi nationals are now assisting him. It now has registration with NGO bureau and we can expand our work in other places of Bangladesh.”
He also requested everyone to support this great work and hoped that within a short time Hope Foundation will be able to do much more good projects.
At the end Mr. Imtiaz Uddin Ahmed, Country Program Coordinator, gave the vote of thanks to all participants and showed gratefulness to Mr. Hasan for providing office room for Hope Foundation in Dhaka.
